AI-Powered Blood Test Could Transform Womb Cancer Diagnosis – A Breakthrough in Healthcare Innovation
Healthcare innovation in England is entering a new era. Several NHS hospitals plan to adopt an AI-powered blood test to detect womb cancer. This breakthrough aims to reduce invasive procedures and give women a safer, faster diagnostic pathway.Leeds-based PinPoint Data Science developed the test. It analyzes about 30 blood markers using advanced machine learning. Doctors receive a quick risk score that classifies patients as low, elevated, or high risk. Based on the score, they can choose monitoring, further investigation, or urgent referral. At only £30, the test integrates smoothly into existing cancer referral pathways. Clinical trials with more than 16,000 patients delivered strong results. The AI test flagged 99.1% of cancers as elevated or high risk. It also achieved 99.8% accuracy for women in the lowest-risk group. Each year, nearly 18,000 women in England could avoid unnecessary transvaginal ultrasound scans, sparing them discomfort and anxiety.

Currently, women suspected of reproductive cancers undergo pelvic exams, ultrasounds, biopsies, and hysteroscopies. These procedures often cause distress. The new AI blood test offers a more human-centered, efficient, and less invasive alternative.Experts believe the technology will reduce diagnostic delays, ease patient stress, and improve NHS capacity. While researchers still need to measure long-term outcomes, early detection and reduced invasive testing already inspire optimism.
